Sunday, 25 October 2009: - An excursion from Dunedin arrived around lunch time and deposited around 350 people in Middlemarch. DJ3228 was assisting on the rear. Prior to the arrival of the steam excursion the Dg/Dj mixed train was run from Middlemarch to Pukerangi and return. Once the excursion arrived Ab 663 was cut off the train, watered and the placed back on the excursion train - tender first. Dg 772 was then added as lead loco. We chased this excursion through to Pukerangi, and the official Maciulaitis Rail Tours chase car did well considering that it had a full load of boys!
